9th Annual Pig Roast/BBQ & Recognition Celebration

Fellow Lions and Friends of Camp Marcella:

On Sunday, June 4, 2017  the Trustees and Advisors of New Jersey Camp for Blind Children, Inc.-“Camp Marcella, Inc.” will be hosting their 9th Annual Pig Roast and BBQ.!  This year we will once again be including the Recognition Celebration – honoring Barbara Murray, Esq. and also the West New York Leones Cubanos de Hudson!  The “Recognition Celebration”   will take place at 2pm. Ads may be placed in honor of our recipients in our journal.

Previous attendees will attest that this is not “just your backyard barbecue” but an “epicurean experience”  enjoyed annually by our guests!  Our menu includes:  Roast Pig –what would a Pig Roast be without one! , accompanied by hot dogs and hamburgers-the staples of everyone’s BBQ!  In addition the menu includes a variety of “sides”-including a “design your own salad bar” and a number of other favorites!  All this is followed by our “scrumptious dessert table” – featuring a variety of “sweets” to please everyone!

Gates open at 11:00am-with food served from 12 noon to 3pm.  This years’ event will be enhanced, once again, by a DJ-providing a variety of music for your listening pleasure! We are also planning activities for both children and adult attendees-including fishing in our own Mitten Lake!! –rods available or bring your own! 

Tickets are: $30.00 per person for adults, $10.00 for children ages 6-12, no charge for children under the age of 6!  All tickets must be purchased in advance-either by completing and returning the enclosed Ticket Reservation Form with payment or obtaining them from one of our Trustees or Advisors.

This annual event is one of our primary fundraising activities and this year will include an Ad Journal! You can assist in our fundraising endeavor by: purchasing a ticket, an ad in our journal or making a donation- appropriate forms are included with this letter 

Barbara Murray, Esq., Camp Marcella Legal Advisor/ Trustee, will be the recipient of the Nathan Rogoff Award. This award is presented to a New Jersey Camp for Blind Children, Inc. Trustee or Advisory Board Member for their continuous and dedicated support  to Camp Marcella!

The members of the West New York Leones Cubanos de Hudson will also being honored for their ongoing support and dedication to Camp Marcella.  They will be recipients of the Walter Margetts Award presented to volunteers, not Trustees or Advisory Board Members of  New Jersey Camp for Blind Children, Inc.

NJCFBCI is totally managed by an all-volunteer Board of Trustees, with 100% of all proceeds from our activities being used for improvements to and maintenance of the camp. With a rise in the cost of maintaining our facility and grounds and a decrease in donations, any  support given is greatly appreciated not only by our Trustees and Advisors but most-importantly by the blind and visually impaired children who attend Camp Marcella each summer!
